INDUSTRY’S FIRST TANTALUM POLYMER COTS - KEMET RELEASE!

KEMET and the Tantalum Specialty Business Unit are pleased to announce the release of the industry’s first polymer COTS series suitable for the high reliability requirements of military and aerospace applications.  The T540 and T541 Polymer COTS series’ are targeted for decoupling and filtering applications where very low ESR is required.  This technology not only results in low ESR, but high ripple current capability and improved capacitance retention at high frequency.

As with other KO-CAP products, the T540 and T541 capacitors have a conductive organic polymer as the cathode plate replacing the more common MnO2 layer.  KO-CAPS may be operated at steady state voltages of up to 90% of rated voltage for part types with rated voltages of ≤10 volts and up to 80% of rated voltage for part types >10 volts.  These products are available with a tin lead (SnPb) termination finish, surge current testing options and standard or low ESR levels.  The T540 has a single anode design where the T541 utilizes KEMET’s multiple anode technology resulting in even lower ESR performance.
